This dried blood spot test measures Zonulin, Histamine, and Diamine Oxidase in the gut. Zonulin is a protein that adjusts the permeability of tight junctions between cells of the digestive tract wall. When Zonulin is activated, it plays an important role in the creation of what we call “leaky gut” or intestinal permeability. Histamine is an important regulator of gut function by playing a key role in the body’s inflammatory processes.
